Frequently asked questions
Plain-language answers about how GolfSplit works for hosts and attendees.
What is GolfSplit?
GolfSplit is a small coordination tool that lets a host split the cost of a foursome at a charity scramble among golf buddies, coworkers, or whoever the host wants on the card. The host reserves the foursome, shares a private link, and friends claim their spots. Everyone sees the same roster and the same per-spot cost. GolfSplit handles the coordination only; it does not handle money.
Does GolfSplit process payments?
No. No money moves through GolfSplit. Hosts and attendees settle up off-platform in whatever way works for them — Venmo, check, the charity's own ticket page, cash. The roster on each foursome records who has paid the host, but that is the host's own tracking, not a financial transaction.
Is GolfSplit affiliated with the charity on my foursome?
No. Charity names and details on each foursome are entered by the host. GolfSplit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing any charity whose event appears on the platform. Verify a charity directly with the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search before sending money.
Who can see my foursome?
Foursomes are not listed publicly. They are reachable only by the share link the host distributes. The link is hard to guess but it is not a password — anyone who has it can view the roster, claim a spot, and post comments. Treat the link like an email-only invitation.
Do I need an account to claim a spot?
Yes. To claim a spot you sign in with an emailed magic link or with Google. This keeps the roster accurate and gives you a way to release or update your spot later. Hosts can also add an attendee on someone's behalf without that person signing in, useful when a friend isn't online.
How much does GolfSplit cost?
GolfSplit is free for hosts and attendees. There is no paid tier, no ads, and no upsell. The platform is funded by voluntary tips on the About page. Tips go to the platform, not to any host or charity.
What happens if someone has to cancel their spot?
An attendee can release their spot from the foursome page. The host is notified by email and the spot opens up for someone else to claim. Whether any payment refund happens is between the attendee and the host — GolfSplit does not process refunds because it does not handle payments.
Can the host cover the cost themselves?
Yes. When creating a foursome the host can pick HOST-COVERS mode, where the host is covering the whole foursome and attendees just need to RSVP a spot. Attendees in this mode see clear language that they don't owe a per-spot amount — only the spot itself is being claimed.
Where is GolfSplit available?
GolfSplit is in private beta in the Kansas City metro area as of 2026. Public sign-up is not yet open. If you're a Kansas City charity scramble organizer or a host interested in piloting GolfSplit on a real outing, the About page has a contact address.
Is my data shared or sold?
No. GolfSplit does not sell user data and does not run ads. The Privacy Policy explains in plain language what GolfSplit collects (account email, foursome details the host enters, spot claims) and what it doesn't (payment information, location tracking, third-party advertising identifiers).
